Gardeners at Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire
This country house was built 1874-83 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the style of a 16th-century French chateau. This group of gardeners has stopped work to have their photograph taken. Some of them seem less relaxed about this than others. The building behind the men is the aviary, built in 1889.
