Collection: Anonymous Dovecotes Collection

Description

The collection comprises 76 black and white negatives (2”x 2”) and their associated photographic prints. They primarily show interior and exterior views of dovecotes, although other buildings also feature. The collection appears to consist of modern copies of early 20th century photographs. A small number are photographic copies of illustrations. The collection focuses on the south of England and West Midlands, with buildings in Hereford & Worcester accounting for approximately a third of the total. Coverage includes the following counties: Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Cornwall, Devon, East Sussex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Merseyside, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Somerset and Wiltshire. There is limited coverage of sites in Scotland, Wales and Isle of Man. A handlist indexed by county and item number exists within the collections file. Acquired via Gillian Phimister - RCHME York.
