The collection is in two parts. The first part, consisting of 28 black and white prints, are stamped with the name G M Pizey. These date from circa the 1970s, and primarily show architectural subjects, including housing, shops, offices, tower blocks, and street scenes. There are also some details of carved panels, and of a silver coffee set, and a portait of a man with a horse. None of the buildings have currently been identified, although it is likely that they show locations in London or Kent as the photographer's stamp shows that they were based in Orpington. The images are of good quality.
The second part of the collection, which seems to have been accessioned with the prints but which has no known connection to G M Pizey, consists of eight glass plate negatives, probably dating from circa 1940. These are portraits of: Sir Arthur Pearson, Mrs Lloyd George, Mr Frederick Smith, Lawrence Briant, an unidentified man, and three portraits of unidentified judges.
Provenance : G M Pizey was a Kent-based professional photographer.
