Description

Cammell Laird and Co Ltd, one of the most recognisable names in British shipbuilding, was formed by the merger of Laird, Son and Co. of Birkenhead and Cammell and Co. of Sheffield, at the turn of the 20th century. According to the Bedford Lemere daybook this photograph, taken during construction of HMS Audacious, was commissioned by 'Cammell & Engineering', possibly a reference to Engineering Magazine.
