Description

In November 1953, Laing was awarded a contract for two aircraft hangars at Gaydon Airfield; construction started at the beginning of 1954. The foundations of each hangar were 13 feet deep and were triangular in elevation. Above, 14 reinforced concrete columns were concreted in sections: the intermediate columns, above floor level, were concreted in a single pour; the gable columns were concreted in two pours.
