Description

In November 1953, Laing was awarded a contract for two aircraft hangars at Gaydon Airfield; construction started at the beginning of 1954. The foundations of each hangar were 13 feet deep and were triangular in elevation. The base of each triangular foundation was 30 feet. The photograph shows men in the trench excavating, with others on a platform above operating a pulley to remove material.
