Description

During World War One, Portland Castle served as part of a Naval base, seeing the castle specifically used for the manufacture and testing of torpedoes. This plan may relate to conversion works at the site. Annotations in ink relate to works carried out in the 1920s; 'Plastery made good, Roof repaired, Oct 26th to Dec 6th 1922', 'Castle roof stripped & re-slated, parapet wall top of castle repaired & pointed, Jul 26th to Oct 31st 1922', 'Bushes removed and [plants] rebedded, Oct 1922'.

Notes on the sheet state that the buildings coloured in blue belong to Schedule B, buildings in yellow to Schedule C.

The sheet is marked 'Office Copy' and 'correct'.
