Description

The Ministry of Works held an exhibition of prefabs at the Tate Gallery in 1944, opposite the Queen Alexandra Military Hospital. The exhibition proved to be popular and two more exhibitions were held there in 1945.

The aluminium house in the images is a AIROH, which stood for “Aircraft Industries Research Organisation on Housing”.
