Approximately 62,500 black and white negatives illustrating the work carried out by the firm between circa 1948 and 1974. Some images were selected by the company from these negatives, printed, mounted and placed in albums (see Series JLP01/01-05), therefore there is some overlap in content between these series.
The images document many civil engineering and construction projects carried out by the firm including the M1 and M6 motorways, power stations at Plymouth, Berkeley and Portishead, airports, RAF housing and research facilities for the Royal Aircraft Establishment, including the Clapham Wind Tunnel, post-war housing, factories, such as Patons and Baldwins knitting factory at Darlington, Shoreham Cement works, the Amalgamated Dental Factory and Ford's works at Dagenham, sugar silos at York and King's Lynn, Coryton Oil Refinery and many images documenting various work carried out by the firm including the construction of Coventry Cathedral, the Commonwealth Institute in Kensington, the Bull Ring Shopping Centre in Birmingham and the Cooperative Insurance Society tower in Manchester. There are also negatives showing the firm's Brisco and Thermalite brickworks, opencast mining, Elstree plant and machinery, as well as staff events and portraits, and work carried out by the company in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and overseas in Malta, South Africa, Syria and Canada.
