Approximately 20,160, 35mm colour slides showing various projects carried out by subsidiary companies - Laing Property Development, Laing Management Contracting (circa 1981-1991), John Laing Construction and Laing Research and Development (circa 1963 onwards). Included are civil engineering projects and overseas work. Of note are colour slides showing the construction of Coventry Cathedral (1958-1962), the M1 and M6 motorways (1958 -1962) , Wheatley Bypass (1964), the Bull Ring Shopping Centre in Birmingham (1963 -1964), Patons and Baldwins knitting factory in Darlington (1949 - 1951) and the British Library (1982 - 1988).
There are slides showing various examples of different building methods for housing (Jesperson, Laingspan, Laingwall, Sectra, Storiform, timber frame) and slides used for training purposes showing equipment and materials, building problems, examples of new building materials developed by the company (Thermalite, Lytag, Faircrete), quality control, health and safety and Laing corporate images, such as diagrams of organisational company structures and slides relating to PPI finance.
