Description

Box of 16 packets containing 88 prints and 18 negative strips, comprising:

- photographic prints showing miscellaneous Laing projects, including; an unidentified London estate in the 1930s; a new research and development centre in Elstree in the mid-1950s; Bold, Barony and Willow Holme power stations in the 1940s/50s; an unidentified barn conversion from the late 1980s; Woodcroft Hall chapel under construction in the 1920s; a new stand for Doncaster racecourse in 1968/69; and Speed House flats in London's Barbican area in 1968; - colour prints and negative strips from the 1990s relating to Laing family history, showing views of churches, gravestones and memorials in Castle Sowerby, Sebergham, Stapleton, Castleton and Canonbie; - a postcard showing Seahaven boarding house, Douglas, used by Laing employees during the construction of Ronaldsway Airport; - photographic copies of artworks by Terence Cuneo (showing Laing machinery in operation) from 1950, and R W Walker Gardner (showing the Brabazon airliner and its bespoke hanger at Filton Airfield) from 1947, and architect's drawings of Ponteland High School from 1971 and buildings on Langham Place, London from the mid-1960s; - a copy negative and a late 20th century print taken from it, showing a group photograph of uniformed soldiers in the 1940s; - three colour prints, probably from the 1980s, showing the GKN display at an unidentified German exhibition; - a press release from 1962 with attached photo promoting a Bentall grain dryer; - two lists relating to numbers on views of Laing's Mill Hill complex (the views themselves are not included).
