Description

Two folders containing 397 prints in 21 packets and comprising:

- a set of negatives on microfiche showing Laing work at RAF Upper Heyford and the Kineton Central Ammunition Depot in the 1970s; - several colour prints showing the Norwich Union offices in Watford in the 1980s; - strips of colour negatives from around 1979 showing portraits of people who are probably Laing staff, and/or their family members; - views of new GPO buildings from the 1950s to the 1970s, including the regional headquarters at Coryton, Cardiff, Nottingham head post office, Carlisle main post office in the 1930s, telephone exchanges in Carlisle, Coventry, Birmingham and Gloucester, sorting offices in Bristol and Derby, and the East London parcels concentration office; - new buildings at Durham University from the 1960s and 1970s; - factory works from the 1970s including the Islington BP oil terminal; Aspatria Creamery (with photographs from its opening by William Whitelaw MP); British Drug Houses, Godalming; DCL Kilmarnock; Boots' tablet factory, Beeston; Marley Tiles Co. Ltd, Poole; the Caterpillar factory, Desford; an LDC warehouse in Borehamwood; the CWS tea operations centre, Crewe; an Ebbland Ltd warehouse in East Molesey; the Denso Ltd factory in West Norwood; and the Terry's warehouse in Nunthorpe, York; - 1960s and 1970s views of new libraries in Newport, Wales; Blackburn, Lancashire; Mold, Wales; Burnt Oak, Edgware; Stockton on Tees, County Durham; - other municipal buildings, including Stockport Town Hall, Leicester Civic Offices, Shrewsbury Shire Hall, Sunderland Civic Centre, Bristol Magistrates' Court, Aylesbury Day Centre in Southwark; Aberdeen County Offices (with views of the Queen opening the building in 1977); and Mold Arts Centre.
