The Traditional Building Skills Bursary Scheme 2012-15 Evaluation
In May 2012, with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund (now National Lottery Heritage Fund), the five partners in the Traditional Building Skills Bursary Scheme (TBSBS) - the National Trust, Cadw, Historic England (formerly English Heritage), the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the National Heritage Training Group (NHTG) - embarked on a three-year extension of the scheme they had launched in 2006, to address the shortage of skills in the built heritage sector in England and Wales.
The purpose of this report is to reflect on the design and delivery of phase three of the scheme and the extent which it achieved its aims, and to inform the development of the scheme as it continues to tackle the shortfall in heritage building skills.
