Davy Monument, Market Place, Penzance, Cornwall

An over life size statue of Sir Humphrey Davy. The sculptors were W & T Wills. They based the statue on a portrait of Davy by Sir Thomas Lawrence. He was born in 1778 in Penzance and died in 1829. He was President of the Royal Society, founder of the Zoological Society, inventor of the Miner's Lamp and the first agricultural chemist.
