Dorothy Vernon's House, Friar Lane, Nottingham
This house was built on the remains of a Carmelite Friary. The friary was home to the White Friars and was in use by 1271 and dissolved in 1539. It was at this time that a house was built here, incorporating parts of the Friary. The land passed to a John Manners who married a Dorothy Vernon, who the house was later named after. This house was demolished in 1927 when Friar Lan was widened.
