Edwards' Homes, Rodwell Avenue, Weymouth, Dorset
This group of 8 almshouses was built in 1896 for Sir Henry Edwards. They were built from Portland stone in a Tudor Revival style. Sir Henry Edwards was MP for Weymouth from 1867 to 1885. He donated the money for these almshouses and 2 other groups in Rodwell Road and James Street. The designs are very inventive and striking and this particular building is set out in the grand manner. Like the others, it has remained in institutional ownership and has had no external changes.
