Former Miners' Convalescent Home, Queens Promenade, Blackpool, Lancashire
This building (now apartments) was originally a Miners' Convalescent Home. It was built in 1925-7 by Bradshaw, Gass and Hope. It was opened by the Prince of Wales on 28 June 1927. It is built in a Baroque Revival style of architecture and is an impressive and monumental building. Convalescent Homes were often built in seaside towns as sea air was believed to be good for sick people.
