Girls' Public Day School Trust School, Lewisham, Greater London

This Girls' Public Day School Trust School in Wemyss Road was designed in 1879-80 by E R Robson in a Queen Anne style. It was built for the Girls Public Day School Company Limited. According to an inscribed stone it was "Opened by HRH Princess Louise January 17 1880." The company was formed in 1872 to provide affordable day school (non-boarding) education for girls. In 1906 it became The Girls' Public Day School Trust. In 2010 they are a charity that owns and runs 29 schools in England and Wales.
