Heckington Mill, Hale Road, Heckington, Lincolnshire

This tower mill was built in 1830 to designs by Michael Ingeldew. The datestone has the date and the letters MH inscribed on it, for the builder Michael Hare. It was repaired in 1890 and ceased working in 1942. The large amount of power generated by the 8 sails enabled the mill to drive 5 pairs of mill stones as well as other machines such as a sack hoist, feed mixer and an adjacent woodworking shop. This is the only 8 sailed windmill left in England.
