Kitchens at Wolvesey Castle (Old Bishop's Palace), Winchester, Hampshire
Reconstruction drawing showing staff preparing food in the kitchens of the Old Bishop's Palace, later known as Wolvesey Castle, as it may have appeared in about 1160. Wolvesey Castle was the palace of the Bishops of Winchester. It was built by the bishop Henry de Blois in c1130 - 71. The castle was destroyed by the Roundheads during the Civil War (1646). This site is now in the care of English Heritage.
