Mayfield College, Mayfield, East Sussex
The school was originally built in 1865-6 as a boys orphanage for the Duchess of Leeds. E. W. Pugin was the architect of this gothic building and it was constructed to house 100 boy orphans. The orphanage was run by the Xavierian brothers, an order of monks named after Saint Francis Xavier, from 1868. The orphanage was built as one of a pair. The Girls' orphanage was of the same date. In 2007 the building was converted into 63 converted grand loft style apartments, family homes and new build apartments.
