Miller, South Duffield Mill, Cliffe, North Yorkshire
The tower mill and millhouse at South Duffield were built in about 1800 for grinding cereals. The miller pictured is Mr Walter Ledger, who was working the mill in 1943 when this picture was taken. No details about Mr Ledger are available but he has clearly lost a leg. Judging by his age he may have been a veteran of the First World War.
