Orthopaedic Room, Central Health Centre, Market Street, Greenwich, Greater London

A view of the Orthopaedic Room showing (left) head suspension apparatus and radiant heat lamps and (centre) a private cubicle with a combined therapy table. The Health Centre was designed by the Borough Engineer and cost £18,000. It provided the community with a range of health practitioners, with particular focus on maternity and infant welfare services. The Health Centre also included two air raid shelters constructed from reinforced concrete.
