Peat Store, Grinton, North Yorkshire

This peat store was built in the early 19th century. Peat was the fuel used in the lead smelting mill. A year's supply was taken from the moor, dried, and stored ready for use close to the mill. This is the best preserved peat store of any lead-smelting mill complex in Swaledale and Wensleydale.
