Seacoaler at Work, Lynemouth, Northumberland

Under certain conditions coal from the plants in Northumberland is washed-up onto the so-called 'black beaches' of Lynemouth. The coal is then collected by Seacoalers, like the man pictured. Using bicycles and horses to reach the areas not well served by roads they have established a unique way of life.
