Skidby Mill, Skidby, East Riding of Yorkshire
This is a typical East Yorkshire tower windmill that was used for grinding corn. It was built in 1821 by Robert Garton, Millwright, for William Watson. The 6 storey tower is built of brick, coated in tar and has a timber-framed cap with sails and a painted fantail. When surveyed in the 1950s the machinery was complete and in full working order, only the sack hoist was missing. There were 3 pairs of stones. It has since become part of an agricultural museum.
