South Africa Peace Memorial, Grenville Road, Lostwithiel, Cornwall
This peace memorial is dated 1902. The inscription on the top of the plinth reads:PEACE MEMORIAL. It commemorates the Boer War and has initials hand-carved on the side. It was built to acknowledge the men who went to South Africa to fight in the Boer War from 1899 to 1902. Eighteen men from the parishes of Lostwithiel, Lanlivery, and St Winnow parishes went to fight. All of them returned home safely.
