A group of pupils standing outside the Fieldway entrance to St Bartholomew's Church of England Primary School, Wigginton. The man talking to the children may be the headmaster. The school was founded in 1854 by the Reverend Gaisford, to enable all children within the parish bounds to receive full time education. It was originally a plaiting school in which children made straw plaits for the Luton hat industry. This new school building was dedicated by the Lord Bishop of St Albans on 15th March 1969.
