St Saviours Hospital, Fordham Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
This was a medieval Hospital in the name of St Saviour. It was founded in 1184-85 by Abbot Sampson. Recent excavations uncovered the base of the remaining walls of the hospital. It probably consisted of a hall with a chapel at the east end. There is a plaque recording the death of Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, uncle of Henry VI. He is said to have been murdered here in 1447.
