Telegraph House, Binsted, Hampshire

This building was built as a semaphore signalling station (Sir Home Riggs Popham system). It is one of many such stations on a line from Chatley Heath, a station on the London to Portsmouth line, westwards towards Plymouth. Before the invention of the telephone this was one of the quickest was for the admiralty in Portsmouth to send information up to London.
