The Driftwood Spars, Quay Road, St Agnes, Cornwall
This building was originally associated with the mines and later used as sail and net lofts for a pilchard company. It became a hotel after the second world war. It was built in the 18th century and extended in the early 19th century. The name is based on the legend that spars from some of the ships that have been wrecked in Trevaunance cove, below the hotel, were used as ceiling beams. The spars held the sails on a sailing ship.
