The Weavers, St Peters Street, Canterbury

This building is dated 1500 and was one of the workshops of the Huguenot weavers. Huguenots were French Protestants who were persecuted for their beliefs. Large numbers fled to England as refugees in Tudor times bringing their skills as weavers particularly of silk.
