Tiles from Byland Abbey, North Yorkshire

Medieval tiling in the south transept of the monastic church. The whole floor of the church of the Cistercian Abbey was once tiled in geometric patterns (like these) from the 13th century. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
