Tithe Barn, Swalcliffe, Oxfordshire
This tithe barn was built in c1400. It was built by William of Wykeham (1324-1404), Bishop of Winchester and founder of New College Oxford. The quality of the masonry (stone) and building make this the finest barn in Oxfordshire. Tithe barns were used by the church to store the tithes paid to them in rent by the local farmers and peasants.
