Tombs of the Spode Family, Stoke on Trent
The Spode family played a vital role in the development of pottery in Stoke on Trent. In the late 18th century Josiah Spode perfected the formula for making fine bone china. In 1806 the factory was visited by the Prince of Wales, who asked them to make a dinner service for his coronation as George IV. It has held a Royal Warrant ever since.
