Village Hall, York Street, Bebington, Merseyside
This building was originally a school. It was built in 1858 as part of a planned village for Price's Patent Candle Company. Price's built a village of 147 houses with church, school, institute, shop and library for its workforce. This was one of the earliest 'model villages'. It was an inspiration to other employers and was copied at Lever's Port Sunlight factory adjacent to Bromborough in the 1880s and by Cadbury's Bourneville village in the 1890s.
