West front and parterre, Kirby Hall, Gretton, Northamptonshire

Work on Kirby Hall was begun in 1570 by Sir Humphrey Stafford and completed by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Elizabeth I. It was heavily remodelled and restored in the 17th century. It is seen here across the West Garden which was laid out in the 1690s. This property is owned by the Earl of Winchilsea and managed by English Heritage (2010).
