How Long We Store Personal Information

We will keep your personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed, in accordance with our internal policies. How long personal information will be stored depends on the information in question and what it is being used for.

As a Non Departmental Public Body with a specific statutory remit to protect and improve understanding of the nation's heritage it is necessary in some circumstances for us to retain some personal information permanently in order to preserve the record of the historic environment and to comply with the Public Records Act 1958 (as amended). Records which contain personal information and which are selected for permanent preservation will be stored securely and access to information about living identifiable individuals will be controlled. Personal information selected for permanent preservation will not be used to make decisions about individuals.

We continually review what information we hold and delete what is no longer required.
