Notes on the reverse of the print read: "Apprentice Bay at John Laing's Elstree Plant Depot in 1954/55, shortly after it was set up. Note sectioned Austin or Ford Engine - dismantled Bedford or Chevrolet engine. Equipment included Alba Shaper, basic horizontal milling machine, Van Norman boring bar, press and valve grinder, and lathe.
