Building Preservation Notices: What Are They, What Are the Benefits, and How Is the Process Changing?
Building Preservation Notices (BPNs) are a tool for Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) to protect unlisted buildings they consider to have special historic or architectural interest but are at risk of demolition or alteration in such a way as to affect such interest. A BPN protects a building for 6 months, which allows Historic England to carry out an assessment of the building for listing.
In this webinar, we explain what a BPN is, the benefits of issuing them, and changes to the process that come into force on 25 July 2024 following the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023.
